horseback ridingHorseback riding Patagonia vacation packages offer sceneries of the vast collection of flora and fauna in the remote part of Argentina and Chile. The adventures that go with the little known rough country side of the place are best appreciated while riding horses in the multiple arrays of nature.

Patagonia is part of the rich countries of Argentina and Chile in the South Americas. People are known to have lived the simple way of herding and vegetation. This simple living is accompanied by their natural inclination to horse riding making their place a niche for people who are looking for an adventurous vacation. Thus, horseback riding has become one of the most anticipated activities when experiencing the wild west of Patagonia.

There are a lot of things that can be enjoyed while in Patagonia. One of the best ways is to take horseback riding Patagonia package vacations that will surely enhance your wilderness exploration of the culture-rich country side. When it comes to accommodation, tourists don’t have to worry for places to sleep. There are a number of guest ranches that are particularly intended for the Patagonia horseback riding visitors. Traveling through the southern part of Argentina is a truly nominal experience even to the not-so-expert horseback riders. Patagonia horses are not just meant to satisfy the vacation of the horseback riding Patagonia enthusiasts. As long as the visitors have balance and physically healthy, they can enjoy riding horses in Patagonia.

Riding Patagonia horses is enjoyable whether you take the riverside trek, the foothills trek or the canyons and plains trek. For the foothills trek horseback riding Patagonia hails the wonders of the Andes that is enveloped by the beauty of snow peaked mountains and crystalline rivers. There are also some hiking areas if it is an intention to see wide expanse of shingles. This is where people explore the Torres del Paine National Park in the Chile side of Patagonia. Horses in Patagonia are also used to bring the visitors in the area where they can see the stretch of the brackish Atlantic Ocean and savor the breath taking experience of whale and dolphin watching while mounted on the horse.

Various rarely visited places are offered in Horseback riding Patagonia vacation packages. But tourists don’t have to worry because the guides are akin to the areas that they cover. Despite little or no knowledge on speaking English, they can impart their love of their place by showing the guests the beauty of Patagonia with the added bonus of reliving the American cowboy style of the gaucho culture.

In the nature-rich land of Patagonia, horseback riding is still a part of their daily lives. People do not just do it for a living but most of them use it as a form of transportation. The American cowboy era had long been gone and now they are only seen in the movies. But in Patagonia, the past for other countries is still their present and probably their future too. This is no wonder why horseback riding Patagonia vacation packages are widely offered in the countries of Argentina and Chile.

Who are we

Gatomancha is a professional horse riding company set up by two fanatic horse riding women; Lucila Gandulfo and Gwen Hulsegge. We organize high quality rides through the Andes of Argentina and Chile on horseback, where your safety, personal service and the care of the horses are our priority. Where we don’t ride ourselves we work together with the best operators in the region, making sure they have our same level of standard.

Gatomancha is called after the two famous Criollo horses `Gato´and `Mancha´ that rode from Buenos Aires to Washington in the 1920s. Their rider and writer of the book `Gato y Mancha´, A.F.Tschiffely, proved that way that this breed of horses is extremely strong and trustworthy. Our association is that of well-prepared adventurous rides.

Where are we located

Gatomancha is located in the lake-district of northern Patagonia, Argentina. The town is called San Carlos de Bariloche (or just ‘Bariloche’ as we say). It is set at the foot of the Andes and stretched out along the Nahuel Huapi Lake. Bariloche has its own international airport (BRC) with regular flights to and from Buenos Aires daily. It is a touristy town that most Westerners compare to Switzerland or West-Canada.

Where do we travel

Patagonia is covered with national parks. No lines, no food, no traffic, no cell phones, just nature and an imaginary line saying “Do not disturb”. When we break down in a remote area, we spend the night under a bazillion stars sleeping in a tent or tarp. The location this far south on the Earth holds the temperate microclimates in and along the thousands of valleys lying tucked between the gigantic Cordillera ranges. The highly diverse flora and fauna with hundreds of species, vast areas of pristine nature just sitting there make Patagonia’s existence still somewhat of a secret. Although less and less well kept.

Gatomancha travels on horseback through the national parks and huge farmlands of Northern and Southern Patagonia. If you have a specific area in mind, other than the tours we offer, we can organize it for you. We go as far south as Ushuaia, the heart of Fire Island, as west as the Pacific Ocean in Chili, up north to Mendosa and travel east towards the Atlantic Ocean.

The environment

Patagonia’s sheer size gives the impression that it is a continent by itself, not the southern half of Argentina and Chile. Whichever way you look at it, it is a place unlike any other. A seemingly never-ending collection of mountains, forests, valleys, lakes, rivers, streams, volcanoes, more forests, more valleys, more mountains, more lakes, glaciers. And we want to keep it that way! We just take what we need and leave the places we find the same or better than we found them.

Gatomancha is an eco-conscious company and encourages its guests to learn more about that. On our trips we will give you tips on how to travel with respect for nature without loosing comfort.
